On September 14, the Miss Plus America Pageant system will crown its 17th royal court at the historic Winyah auditorium.
In 1998, West Monroe, Louisiana native Melissa Stamper envisioned a traditional pageant for the full-figured women of today. This pageant would champion and celebrate the essence of thisgroup of ladies without bias and without excuses. This dream was realized in 2002 when the Miss Plus America™ pageant was born.
With a successful beginning, the Miss Plus America pageant is on track to rival the oldest and most prestigious pageant in our country today. Miss Plus America is a faith-structured organization for plus size women that inspires women and gives them an outlet to experience not only the thrill of walking a stage in gown and crown, but also gives them the opportunity to experience the magnanimity of serving others in a unique and rewarding way. The ladies have prepped and participated in various community service events throughout the year.
Throughout the pageant the candidates will compete in four distinct categories of judging: panel interview, elegant pant wear, evening gown, and on stage question.
Last summer the pageant crowned its four division winners Mrs. Georgia Plus America, Shannon Denean, as Miss Plus America Elite 2018, Miss South Carolina, Richlyn Williams, was crowned Miss Plus America 2018. Ms. Texas, Kimberle Smith, was crowned Ms. Plus America 2018, and Mrs. South Carolina, Angie Gadsden-Middleton, was crowned Mrs. Plus America 2018
