Coronavirus(1)

The novel COVID-19 disease was first detected in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China and now has been detected internationally, including the United States. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes is named "coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19).

State health officials report that 245 new COVID-19 cases arose today along with 3 additional deaths.

The Palmetto state total is now up to 9,638. DHEC officials also reported three additional deaths bringing the death rate up to and those who have died to 419 on Friday.

The three deaths occurred in elderly individuals from Spartanburg (2) and Jasper (1) counties.

The agency also reported one new case in Georgetown County with the total now 54.
