All four Georgetown County High Schools met on March 10th-12 to compete at the Claude Kirkland Golf Tournament.The golf tournament was filled with great sportsmanship and great golf.
"I am excited to help continue this tradition and grow the game of golf in this area," Andrews head golf coach Walter Poston said.
The tournament was held at three locations; Cherry Hill Country Club, Wedgefield Plantation and True Blue Plantation and Coach Poston thanks the three places for allowing their "high school teams a venue to play" and provide them with hospitality.
"I would also like to thank Georgetown County School District for their support of the First Tee program, which continues to promote the game of golf and instill the 9 core values in our student athletes" Coach Poston said.
The three day Captain's Choice format led to some great scores and great pairings. Honorable mentions for low rounds include the pairing of Trace Adams and James Gore from Georgetown High School with a score of 5 under 31 at Cherry Hill Country Club in Andrews. Another honorable mention to Ethan Parsons and Hunter Morris from Andrews High School with a score of 4 under 33 at Wedgefield Plantation. Congratulations were in order for Will Hardwick from Waccamaw High School who made a "Hole in one" on the 4th hole (130 yds) at Cherry Hill Country Club.
The Team Results are as listed:
Waccamaw- 1st place with a score of 322
Georgetown- 2nd place with a score of 340
Andrews- 3rd place with a score of 350
Carvers Bay- 4th place with a score of 475
