From a Yellow Jacket to an Indian.

On Apr. 25, Andrews High School’s Daishenylle Grant signed to play soccer for the University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie next season.

“My coach (Andrews High head girls’ soccer coach April Maglich) talked to me about it,” Grant said. “They (USC-Salkehatchie) had interest in me, and I decided I would take interest, too.”

Grant learned a lot while playing soccer for Andrews.

“I learned to be yourself and to do your best at practice,” she said. “Ninety-five percent of when you try your hardest should be at practice, and the other five percent should be in a game.”

Grant credits April Maglich and Andrews High boys’ head soccer coach, Shane Maglich, who also helps out with the girls’ team, for not only teaching her about soccer, but also about life.

“They taught me not to take life for granted,” Grant said.
