Andrews won the Region 7-2A championship last Friday night by beating the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders 46-36. The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season with an 8-1 overall record and 6-1 in region play.

The Yellow Jackets took the opening kickoff and went on a seven play-76 yard drive capped off by a touchdown pass from quarterback Francis Brown to receiver Ethan Cannon to make it 8-0 after a successful two-point conversion.

After a punt by the Raiders, Andrews went on an eight-play, 92-yard drive near the end of the first quarter, making it 14-0 after a touchdown run by fullback Keshaun Williams. Another two-point try was no good.

Hannah-Pamplico quickly answered with a seven-play, 52-yard drive capped off by a touchdown pass from quarterback Lane Calcutt to receiver Ty’shaun Self narrowing the gap to 14-8 after a two-point conversion. Andrews then went on an eight-play, 47-yard drive finishing with a touchdown run by fullback Charlton Williams to make it 22-8.

On the Raider’s next drive, Calcutt called his own number scoring on both a touchdown run and two-point conversion to make it 22-16. Later in the second quarter, Brown threw a touchdown pass to receiver Jarian Pinckney making it 30-16 after a successful two-point conversion and that would be the halftime score.

After the break, the Raiders went on a 13-play, 51-yard drive, capped off by a touchdown run by tailback Kenyan Leggett to make it 30-24. On the next drive, Yellow Jacket Keshaun Williams scored his second touchdown of the night to make it 38-24 after a two-point conversion.

Hannah-Pamplico then answered with a 12-play, 60-yard drive that carried over into the start of the fourth quarter. Calcutt threw a touchdown pass to receiver Caleb Jackson to make it 38-30.

After an unsuccessful onside kick-off attempt by the Raiders, Keshaun Williams took advantage by scoring his third touchdown to make it 46-30. On the next drive, Leggett scored his second touchdown to make it 46-36.

Andrew was then able to run out the clock and secure the region championship.

Keshaun Williams led the way on offense with 19 rushes for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Pinckney had three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Cannon caught 2 balls for 53 yards and a touchdown.

Defensive lineman Rodrick Dorsey led the way on defense with four tackles, five assists and one sack. Linebacker Gunnar Gatlin also added a sack.

As the number one seed in the playoffs, the Yellow Jackets will host Oceanside Colleigate in the first round of the playoffs.
