Reverend Cliff R. Gilmer, Sr.
Reverend Cliff R. Gilmer, Sr., 76, husband of Faye Kirkland Gilmer, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 11am at his home at 77 Comanche Drive, Georgetown, SC 29440.
Born on April 10, 1943 in Red Bay, Alabama, he was the son of the late Lionel Russell Gilmer and the late Suzy Eloise Clemons Gilmer. Mr. Gilmer attended Spartanburg Jr. College, Wofford College, Emory University, and the Citadel. Mr. Gilmer served as a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserves, a chaplain for Winyah Hospice and was a minister at Arcadia United Methodist, Stallsville United Methodist, First United Methodist of Isle of Palms, St. Andrews United Methodist, Socastee United Methodist and, after retiring, Ebenezer United Methodist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Clifford Russell Gilmer, Jr. (Missi) of Cartersville, GA; a daughter, Carolyn Gwynne Gilmer of Georgetown, SC; a son, Daniel Kirkland Gilmer (Apryl) of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Clifford Russell Gilmer, III, James David Gilmer, Graycynne Gilmer Judy, John Thomas “Trace” Judy, III, Lauren Evan Gilmer, Lindsay Nicole Gilmer, Daniel Graham Gilmer, Liza Grace Gilmer; great grandchildren, Emaleigh Faith Daniel, Jacob Russell Gilmer, James David “Jude” Gilmer, Keller Winn Gilmer; two sisters, Delores Cox (Woody) and Carolyn Gee (Chuck), both of Pawleys Island, SC; brother-in-law, Edward Earl Kirkland (Gloria) of Spartanburg, SC; and his nieces and nephews, Tres Cox, Alex Cox, Suzanne Stone, Emily Dauber and Edward Kirkland.
