Sheriff Carter Weaver beat challenger Darryel Carr on Dec. 3 to become the candidate for the Republican Party in the February 4 election to fill the remainder of the term won by the late Lane Cribb.

Weaver had 5,419 votes and Carr had 1,457 with 34 precincts reporting. 

Sheriff Weaver will be the only name on the ballot in Feb. although someone could run a write-in campaign. 

Votes will be certified on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
