Georgetown County Sheriff Lane Cribb is currently hospitalized at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
According to Assistant Sheriff Carter Weaver, Sheriff Cribb is currently being treated after “having an allergic reaction to a cortisone shot.”
Weaver said Cribb was originally taken to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital but was later transported over to MUSC.
Weaver will be in charge during Cribb’s absence.
“We expect a full recovery and for him to return to duty as soon as he can,” Weaver said.
According to the GCSO website, “Sheriff Cribb started his career in Law Enforcement with the South Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control as an investigator in 1973. He then worked as a Criminal Investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, until he returned home to work as an Investigator with the GCSO. Sheriff Cribb was elected Sheriff of Georgetown County in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.”
