Thelma Evans

Thelma Roberta Evans, 74, of Georgetown, a beloved mother and the widow of Jack Morgan Evans, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, January 12, 2012, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Evans was born the daughter Samuel Glass and Lela Baylor Glass on December 17, 1937 in Andrews. She was a member of the Six Mile Crossing Church of God.  She committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mother.  

She leaves behind six children, Jimmy Evans, Jackie (Bobby) Martin, John (Ann) Evans, James (Cheryl) Evans, Janice (Tony) Mau and Joey Evans; 15 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren; one brother,  Sammie (Judy) Glass; two sisters, Judy (Harold) Murphy and Diane De Baca; and number of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; one granddaughter, Cayce Evans; one brother, David Glass; and two sisters, Debbie Mills and Ann Lewis.

Home Going Celebration was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at the Six Mile Crossing Church of God with interment in the Bethel Cemetery, directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012, in the Georgetown Chapel.

Memorials may be sent to the Six Mile Crossing Church of God.
