Glenn O'Connell resigned Wednesday as the local executive committeeman to the state Republican Party.

Citing health reasons, O'Connell told Georgetown County Republican Party Chairman Jim Jerow that he felt it would be best for him to resign since there would be many duties during this election year for the party.

Jerow and other members of the county GOP executive committee accepted O'Connell's resignation and his suggestion that Joyce Ann Jerow succeed him to serve out the term on the state party through 2013.

Joyce Jerow said this is the first time she's done something to this extent with the party and is looking forward to it.
