A man found floating in the Sampit River Thursday afternoon later died at a hospital, according to officials.
The man, identified as 73-year-old Robert Henry of Georgetown, was pronounced dead at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital Thursday evening, according to Deputy Coroner Chase Ridgeway.
Henry lived on a sailboat moored in the harbor.
Initial reports described the incident as a boating accident and possible drowning, but an official cause of death had not been released as of Friday. Henry's dingy was seen floating, without him in it, and then he was found in the water.
Henry was pulled from the water and brought to a dock at the end of St. James Street where CPR was performed until EMS arrived.
