Georgetown County Sheriff A. Lane Cribb passed away Thursday, Sept.19, after having an allergic reaction to a cortisone shot and being taken to the Medical University of South Carolina.
Our hearts go out to the sheriff’s family and members of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Cribb, 73, had been sheriff of Georgetown County since being first elected in 1992. He was re-elected six times.
He was born Aug. 13, 1946, in Pleasant Hill and started his career in Law Enforcement with the South Carolina Alcohol Beverage Control as an investigator in 1973. He then worked as a Criminal Investigator with the Florence County Sheriff's Office, until he returned home to work as an Investigator with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
He was then elected Sheriff of Georgetown County in 1992. He recently hospitalized and taken to Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and later transported to MUSC. More information will be released as this story develops.
