The local student-led youth group, "Fridays for Future" (FFF) will host a "Climate Strike" this coming Friday, December 6, 2019, after school lets out. This initiative is being held to support climate talks at the COP25 international climate summit, which is happening this week and next in Madrid, Spain. Our local event will convene at the big Litchfield Landing parking lot, also known as the "old Bi-Lo lot", near Cyclopedia and the Litchfield OLLI campus, on Rte 17 in Litchfield Beach.

Our SC coast, bays, inlet, rivers, creeks, streams, beaches and marshlands have been littered with plastic pollution, like "nurdles" , plastic bags, and balloons and beach toys. Other pollutants from paper mills, truck and car exhausts, and landfill emissions impact our lives daily. "Fridays for Future" feels it's time to act boldly to turn the climate crisis around.

The FFF Students and their Allies will convene at 4 PM this coming Friday, with signs, banners and petitions. The public is invited to join this community gathering to support our local ecosystems and our planet. In case of rain, bring umbrellas with animals, birds, or butterflies in the design. Bring a friend and join this effort, which will last until dusk. For more information, email ckconey@ or call 445-444-3037.
