On July 4, residents along the South Carolina coast will have an opportunity to view an “Air Parade” courtesy of a flyover of F-18s.

The flyover is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the beaches of Cherry Grove. In an amazing display of speed and disregard for those who must sit in traffic on a daily basis, the F-18s will conclude their flights in Beaufort around 1:25 p.m. Google maps estimates about four hours to make that trip by car.

Assuming a 1 p.m. start time, the F-18s should be flying past Pawleys Island around 1:06 p.m.

A C-17 Globemaster from the 701AS, Joint Base Charleston will parade behind the F-18s. It is scheduled to take off at 1:05 p.m. and finish in Beaufort at 1:54 p.m. with a Pawleys Island flyover at 1:14 p.m.

Those interested in viewing are encouraged to organize patriotic displays in groups and head to beach to celebrate and to “salute” by wearing and waving patriotic colors during the flyover.

Salute from the Shore is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to honoring the armed forces on Independence Day.
