Representatives of the Andrews Community Enhancement Council attended the Georgetown County School Board meeting on Tuesday to urge the board to appoint Paula Anderson as the next principal of Andrews High School. Anderson is the curriculum coach at the high school.
Ernie L. Cooper Sr., an elder of a church in Andrews, spoke for the group and called Anderson “a role model who is respected throughout Andrews by the parents, students and community.”
Cooper said because Anderson is an Andrews resident, she has “an intimate understanding of the needs” of the community.
Andrews High will have a new principal in the next school year since Principal Michelle Greene will be retiring.
Cooper asked that members of the committee be given a chance to meet with School Board members before a decision on a new principal is made.
The Andrews Community Enhancement Council is comprised of Georgetown County educators and Andrews residents, including students, parents and grandparents of students, business owners, clergymen and elected officials.
