Law enforcement officials said a man fired at deputies during a high speed chase that started in Georgetown and ended in Williamsburg County on Friday.
Rayburn Rashard Scott, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is in custody.
The incident began in the Verizon store on North Fraser Street. Employees called police after a man became disorderly. The employees said the man had a gun, according to police.
The man fled the store and a car chase ensued on Highway 521 through Andrews and into Williamsburg County. Scott fired at deputies while on Highway 521, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office. Officers were able to get the vehicle to stop on Highway 377 heading toward Kingstree and Scott was taken into custody to be brought back to Georgetown.
A report said an officer in the chase was in an accident at Highmarket and Collins streets in Georgetown.
Charges against Scott are pending, the Sheriff's Office said.
