A Georgetown man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting that left one person injured on Wednesday.
David Britton Jr., 50, is being held at the Georgetown County jail pending a bond hearing, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened before noon Wednesday in the Sampit community. The Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred near Columbus Road and Bertie Lane. One man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Reports said he was shot in the lower back.
Britton is also charged with possession of a deadly weapon during a violent crime, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
The Horry-Georgetown Drug Enforcement Unit filed an additional unrelated charge of distribution of marijuana after Britton was in custody.
