Law enforcement officers from Georgetown County will be closely monitoring county beaches and waterways for the duration of the State of Emergency and enforcing Gov. Henry McMaster’s Executive Order to close all public access points because of the public health threat posed by COVID-19.
The governor’s order directs the closure of all public beach access points, adjacent or associated public parking lots and public facilities for recreational purposes.
The order also closes all public piers, docks, wharfs, boat ramps and boat landings providing public access to the public waters of the state. He further directed that the beaching or rafting of boats, whether on a sandbar, lakeshore, riverbank or island, is prohibited.
The order does not apply to commercial fishing.
