An Andrews man was arrested on burglary charges earlier today according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's office.
John Brady Howerton, 46, was charged with burglary of Six Mile Crossing Church of God, 2743 Kent Road, after he was apprehended at 1:50 a.m. by a deputy on Highway 521.
With Howerton stopped, two other deputies met the church pastor and reviewed security camera footage showing a burglar matching the description of the suspect. The pastor’s office window was broken and a clerk’s office door was knocked in. Missing were four television sets, two laptop computers with chargers and $54 in change from a safe.
The suspect had a bag containing $54 on his person. Three of the television sets were found in the church yard. Another television set and the laptops were found across Kent Road. All items were returned to the church pastor.
Howerton is being held at Georgetown County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
