Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has detained another suspect following further investigation in the Planterville community shooting that occurred in April.
On April 27, deputies responded to a report of two 15-year-olds shot in the Plantersville community. Investigators quickly identified a suspect and were able to take Nigel Thompson, 17, into custody on April 30 on two counts of attempted murder and was later charged as an adult.
Continuing their investigation, they identified 18-year-old Destasia Jenkins present during the shooting. Police said she was trying to sell or dispose of a firearm used by a juvenile relative in the attempted murder of three people in Conway. For knowingly attempting to dispose of evidence of that crime, warrants were obtained by Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office charging Jenkins with obstruction of justice.
She surrendered herself to law enforcement on Monday, May 11 and was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where she awaits a bond hearing.
