Wedgefield Boat Club celebrated Memorial Day with a program, picnic and party at the Wedgefield Country Club.

Members enjoyed an indoor picnic on a day when temperatures reached the mid-90s. The club honored members and guests who served in the military and thanked them for their service to America.

The program included the Pledge of Allegiance, the national anthem performed by Mike Macedo. Linda Meltzer read the story of the White Table. Lee Massie and Commander George Furbee with Georgetown VFW Post 6444 gave an update on Post activities. Club members presented Mitch Thompkins with a large sign, promoting Wedgefield’s golf course and Manor House, to be set at the corner of Highway 701 and Wedgefield Road.

In closing the program, Bob McMahan played “Amazing Grace” on his bagpipes.
