Morgan Elvis, gowned in the white dress, smiles alongside Morgan Romano as they will represent Georgetown County in the Miss SC Pageant in June 2020.

Sparkling dresses, acrobatic twirls and poem readings filled Winyah Auditorium on Nov. 9 as contestants competed at the 2020 Miss Georgetown County Competition.

Six contestants entered the competition to be crowned the winner and while all answered questions and showcase their talents, only one could be crowned Miss Georgetown County.

The six women were: Callie Cox, Jill Dudley, Grace Johnson, CJ McDermott, Morgan Romano and Morgan Elvis.

Once the competition and talent showcase was over, Morgan Romano was crowned as Miss Georgetown County 2020.

Romano, a first runner up in Miss South Carolina 2018, is a senior at the University of South Carolina majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in nuclear engineering. Romano’s platform was “World Without A Waiting List,” raising awareness about becoming an organ donor to those who need it.

The first runner up is Morgan Elvis from Socastee, the next candidate if Romano is unable to fulfill her duties.

Hannah Young will continue her reign as Miss Georgetown County Teen in the competition.

Romano will move forward as the Georgetown representative in the Miss SC Pageant in June 2020.
