The Center for Heir’s Property Preservation is hosting the fourth annual South Carolina Rural and Limited Landowner Symposium in Charleston in August.
The event is designed to help participants increase knowledge of heir’s property protection, a significant issue among generational African-American property owners of coastal South Carolina. It will also provide information for monetizing land through responsible timber harvesting.
Speakers include representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture and the Forest Service, among others. Topics include timber taxation, heir’s property resolution, succession planning, women in agriculture and more.
The two day event begins on Aug. 2 and takes place at the Marriott Hotel located at 35 Lockwood Boulevard in Charleston. Registration is $50 and can be done by visiting heirsproperty.org/events or contacting Jasmine Brown at 843-745-7055.
