The Howard Center will host a free event on June 26 featuring professional athletes discussing the importance of making the right choices in order to lead a successful life.

The panel discussion is meant to give positive perspective to young people in the Georgetown Community. The event is organized by Georgetown Outreach Ministries.

Rev. Sandy Drayton, presiding elder for the Georgetown district of AME churches, said the event will give “guidance” to the youth.

The panelists are: former NFL player Ervin “Blue Print” Parker, a native of the Choppee community; Drayton’s son, Maurice, a special teams coach with the Green Bay Packers; Summerville native De’Angelo Henderson with the New York Jets; Georgetown native Alan Brown with the Detroit Lions organization; Everette Sands, running backs coach at Coastal Carolina; and former University of Texas standout and WNBA player Jatarie White will also be part of the panel.

Georgetown Mayor Brendon Barber, Police Chief Kelvin Waites, schools Superintendent Dr. Randy Dozier as well as Andrews Mayor Frank McClary will also be on hand for the program.

The event begins at 11 a.m. in the center’s auditorium. Refreshments will be provided.
