Devann Gardner is inspiring young artists this summer through camps as the Children’s Art Educator at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum.

The Myrtle Beach Art Museum has infused a little Murrells Inlet character. Devann Gardner grew up in Murrells Inlet and will not be far from home as she works to shape the minds and passions as the Museum’s Children’s Art Educator.

As a Coastal Carolina University student, Gardner majored in Art Studio with a concentration in Painting. After an education abroad trip to Italy, Gardner decided to add a minor in Art History to her resume as well.

“I always knew the only thing I was passionate about career-wise was in the art world,” said Gardner.

She graduated from CCU in 2018. Since then she has married, gained experience at a “Wine and Design” shop and eventually interned at the museum which led to a job offer. As the Children’s Art Educator, Gardner provides children with an art-based foundation which she hopes inspires the next generation of artists.

Young artists can gain first-hand experience from Gardner through summer camps at the Myrtle Beach Art Museum. She is behind the Kidsart Summer Camp featuring the “Can’t You Sea – Ocean Plastic ARTifacts” exhibition. Can’t you Sea features several artists who use discarded plastic as a medium as well as a subject matter. Participants can feed their artistic curiosities while also gaining an appreciation for the human impact on the marine environment.
