The inaugural Gullah Geechee Environmental & Energy Conference,scheduled  for 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 25, and 10 a.m-3 p.m. Saturday, October 26,  will provide an opportunity for the Gullah Geechee community and others to become educated and activated about our role as environmentalists and career and business opportunities in the growing green, renewable energy industries.

The Gullah Geechee community can be decision-makers in solar and wind industries but we must become educated, motivated and activated to have a "voice at the table" as the state of South Carolina prepares to make a decision about the future of Santee Cooper, the state-owned utility.

Tickets are $10. Eighteen (18) and under are free. 

The event Friday will be at the Rice Museum, 633 Front Street, Georgetown and  Saturday will be at the Howard Center 1610 Hawkins Street, Georgetown.

The group is looking for 50 volunteers for our inaugural Gullah Geechee Enviromental & Energy Conference on Saturday, October 26, 2019, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.; The event happens 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and meal at the Conference. Must attend training to receive a T-shirt.
