Georgetown County Sheriff Carter Weaversays beach patrols will continue to raise awareness and ask for voluntary compliance to social distancing recommendations to help stop the spread of COVID-19 when Georgetown County reopens its public beach access points Friday, May 1, at noon.
Beachgoers have been cooperative when reminded about best practices to avoid contracting the virus, as outlined in the governor’s emergency order.
“Please keep your distance,” Sheriff Weaver said, “so my deputies can keep theirs.”
Georgetown County Council lifted the order closing public beach access points Tuesday. Restrictions on the Marshwalk and Veterans Pier at Murrells Inlet were left in place.
