Authorities have released the identity of the missing swimmer whose body was recovered on Monday evening after two days of searching.

Roger Latrell Wigfall, 21, of Pawleys Island was the victim. Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard confirmed drowning as the cause of death.

Wigfall was reported to have gone missing around the Wacca Wache boat landing where he was swimming. Wigfall graduated from Waccamaw High School where he was an offensive and defensive lineman for the football team.

The SCDNR Aquatic Investigations and Recovery dive team recovered Wigfall’s body while crews with Horry County Fire Rescue, Horry County Police Department, Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Rescue and U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the search and recovery efforts.
