Samuel Steele and Haley Snipes Steele

The Magnolia Room in Rock Hill was the setting for the wedding ceremony of Haley Anne Snipes and Samuel Edgar Steele, uniting the couple in holy matrimony.

The 5 p.m. double ring ceremony was held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, in the garden area where the couple stood under a gazebo accentuated with white flowers and white ribbon. After exchanging vows and rings, the couple took part in the Cord of Three Strands ceremony. They tied and knotted a three-strand rope, which symbolized the strengthening of marriage to sustain the bride and groom through life. The three strands represent the bride, the groom and Jesus.

The groom’s father, Rev. John Dale Steele, performed the ceremony, which was based entirely on Scripture.

A program of nuptial music was rendered by Dr. Linda Blackwell who sang “I Promise.” Christopher Spence sang “You and Me” and the two of them sang “The Prayer Song.” Trumpeter was Keren Willis.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, William Thomas Snipes and given in marriage by her father and mother, Sharon Harper Snipes.

For her wedding, the bride wore a sleeveless princess style gown of white satin overlaid with sheer organza. The bodice of the gown was accentuated with appliques of Venice lace and pearls and featured a heart-shaped neckline. The back of the gown was designed with a round cutout, extending to the waist, and fastening at the neckline. The bride wore a chapel length veil of sheer illusion edged with appliques of Venice lace appliques and carried a mixed bouquet of white flowers.

Serving as matron of honor was Rebecca Hammond, the bride’s best friend.

Bridesmaids were Sarah Gennie, Mackenzie Thompson, Kelsey Carnes, all cousins of the bride; Darla Steele and Lindsey Steele, sisters-in-law of the groom.

The groom’s daughter, Ava Marie Steele, was the junior bridesmaid.

Flower girl was Beckett Steele, niece of the groom.

Serving as the groom’s best man was Kevin Russell.

Groomsmen were Ben Steele, Michael Steele and Daniel Steele, brothers of the groom; Grayson Snipes, brother of the bride; and Matthew Nichols, cousin of the bride.

Ringbearer was Easton Thompson, cousin of the bride.

Roses were placed on empty chairs in memory of Ann S. Harper, grandmother of the bride; Bart Harper, grandfather of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steele and Lloyd B. Cribb, grandparents of the groom; and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hallman; honorary grandparents of the groom.

Immediately following the ceremony, the bride’s parents entertained with a reception indoors at the Magnolia Room.

Music was provided by DJ Howie Entertainment.

Following a honeymoon in Antigua, the couple is living in Indian Land, outside of Lancaster.

Following the wedding rehearsal, the groom’s parents, Cammie Cribb Steele and John Dale Steele hosted a seated dinner at The Clebourne House in Fort Mill.

On the day of the wedding, the bride’s aunt, Vicki Funderburk, entertained with a bridesmaids brunch at the Fairfield Inn in Rock Hill. A number of other socials honoring the bride and groom were held over the last several months.

The bride is the daughter of William Thomas Snipes and Sharon Harper Snipes of Lancaster. She is the granddaughter of Jacqueline Snipes and Charles Edward Snipes and the late Sally Ann Harper and late Bart Harper, all of Lancaster.

A graduate of Lancaster High School, the bride received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education at the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg. She is employed with the Lancaster County School District as a 5th grade teacher at Indian Land Elementary School in Indian Land.
