The Rhythm of the Black River Festival will be held on June 16th, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on June 17th from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. behind the Choppee Health Complex at 8189 Choppee Road in Georgetown.

On Friday there will be a youth extravaganza and the winners of Miss and Mr. Rhythm of the Black River Festival will be announced. Music will be provided by DJ Akylee Weaver. There will be great food, many games and fun activities.

On Saturday, DJ Akylee Weaver will return with music. Each community in the northwest region of Georgetown will give a little history about their community. The elders of these communities will be honored.

Numerous guests will be featured, including master of ceremonies Rudolph S. Brown with WAAW Shout 94.7FM of Augusta, Ga., local artists Shana Woodberry and Randy Gamble, and singer Towanna Shantel of Columbia.

There will be a gospel sing-off, praise team performances, a youth talent hour, fun and games for kids and a bouncy house.

Tideland Community Health will provide A1C screening in conjunction with pre-diabetes prevention, bloods pressure screening, heart attack and stroke awareness information, and mental health information on bullying and children's anger management.

The Georgetown County Fire Department will bring out the fire truck and give fire hats to kids while supplies last.

Georgetown County Police Department will give out fingerprint kits and educate parents.

Bring your chair, and umbrella, and come enjoy some oldies, gospel, and r and b. Vendors are welcome with a $10 fee for food vendors and a $10 fee for craft vendors. For more information call 843-527-1170.
