HARTSVILLE, S.C. -- Ronald Rouse, a senior defensive end for the Hartsville Red Foxes, collapsed on the sideline during a game against Crestwood tonight and later died. With 3:39 to play in the first half, the 6-foot-3, 320-pound Rouse was in on a tackle and stayed down on the field following the play. Team officials went on to the field to assist Rouse, who eventually got to his feet and walked to the sideline where he collapsed. An EMS crew worked on Rouse on the sideline and could be seen working on him in the ambulance before it departed for the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hartsville leads 27-7 at halftime, and the second half will not be played.
