Georgetown was the fishing tournament mecca over the weekend, with both the Tailwalker Marine Offshore Challenge and the fifth annual Charles B. Dubose Memorial Wahoo Tournament taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

Storms postponed both events until Sunday, which was a beautiful fishing day.

The Tailwalker tournament, which was originally scheduled for the end of July until inclement weather moved it to the August date, suffered quite a toll on participating boats, with over 40 registered but absent boats.

The PGA Championship in Kiawah cut into the attendance as well.

Stuart Ballard, organizer of the Tailwalker challenge was pleased with the event, despite the lower than expected numbers.

"It was considerably down this year, but it's understandable since many people plan their vacation time around these tournaments, and so if the weather kicks up and moves the date back, there is not much they can do about it. But today is beautiful. You really couldn't ask for a better day to fish."

The winning boat, aptly titled, "Beerability" returned to the Georgetown Marina in the warm, late afternoon sun, with a 40.8-pound king ultimately winning captain Dow Suggs the first place spot.

A few miles away, Belle Isle Bay Marina hosted their own wahoo tournament in honor of the late Charles B. Dubose. The event was coordinated by Charles Young, the chairman of the Belle Isle Marina's Wahoo Tournament planning committee.

There was a nice turnout of anglers from across the state, all of them fully focused on boating an elusive wahoo or two, but Steven Godfrey returned to the docks with the winning catch, two wahoos weighing in at 97 pounds
