  • Tuesday, March 26, 2013

  • Updated Monday, September 23, 2013 10:54 am

There will be primaries in the race for Georgetown mayor and a primary is expected for the three expiring city council seats.
As of now, there will be a Democratic primary in the mayor's race and one is expected in the city council race.
In the mayor's contest incumbent Jack Scoville and council member Rudolph Bradley will face off in June. As the filing stands now, the winner of that race will face Republican newcomer Michael Miller — owner of Buzz's Roost restaurant — who filed Tuesday.
In the race for council, the Democrats who have filed so far are incumbent Brendon Barber and newcomers Doris Simmons and Hobson Henry Milton. Incumbent Jeanette Ard is expected to file which would force a primary.
Filing ends at noon Thursday so more candidates are possible.
