Man holds couple at knifepoint

  • Friday, May 25, 2012

A man held a couple at knife point Saturday morning and threatened to kill them because he had “too many charges” against him already, police said. The incident happened over the course of 45 minutes starting at 5:45 a.m. Saturday at a home on Kings Grant Drive, Horry County Police said.
During the incident a witness arrived at the house and managed to grab one of the victims, drive away and call 911, according to a police report. The incident began after the two victims and the suspect, Timothy Shane Doyle, 25, were “drinking and partying” in the home and the suspect then “flipped out,” police said.
One victim, a woman, was hit in the back of the head, fell and was injured when she hit the corner of a wooden dresser, police said. After that, the man and woman were made to sit on the bed while the suspect pointed a razor blade knife at them and told them they could not go anywhere, police said.
The male victim told police that the suspect said “he had too many charges on him and he had no choice but to kill them.” The suspect then demonstrated the knife by cutting his own arm, police said. After a while, a woman arrived at the house and saw the scene and heard the suspect talking about killing the victims. That witness then fled with the female victim to a gas station to call police.
Doyle, of Surfside Beach, was charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault and battery and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
