Two people have been arrested in connection with the third home invasion that has taken place in Georgetown County since late January.
Georgetown County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson says Donnell Vereen and Lionel Bessellieu, both 32, are accused of breaking into a home in the 600 block of Player Road at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
"The victim and her cousin walked to a neighbor’s house, and the cousin set the victim’s cell phone down. When the victim and the cousin returned to (the Player Street home), the cousin realized she picked up Donnell Vereen’s cell phone," Cuthbertson said. "A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. An individual told the victim to return Vereen’s phone. The victim turned around to pick up the phone and Vereen charged through the door and pushed the victim up against a wall. Vereen then put what appeared to be a handgun up to the victim’s head and threatened her. When the cousin heard the commotion, she exited the bedroom and told Vereen she was calling the police. Vereen fled the scene. Sheriff’s deputies canvassed the surrounding area with negative results."
On Thursday, Vereen and Bessellieu were taken into custody by deputies. Vereen is charged with one count of  first degree burglary, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and kidnapping.

Vereen and Bessellieu are currently being housed at the Georgetown County Detention Center where they are awaiting a bond hearing.
In similar but unrelated incidents, on Jan. 27, three men invaded a home in the 22200 block of Choppee Road. No arrests have been made in that incident.
On Feb. 3, a home invasion occurred in the 500 block of Hicks Drive in the Pee Dee Community. Three arrests have been made in that case.
