Sheriff Lane Cribb would like to notify the public of the upcoming 2014 Georgetown County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy.
On Tuesday evenings, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 23 to Nov. 4, 2014, participants will meet at the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office for class. During the seven weeks of the academy, citizens will be informed of all aspects of services, divisions, and responsibilities of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
Must be at least 18 years or older.
Must be a resident of Georgetown County.
Must undergo a background investigation and a criminal history check.
Sheriff Cribb commented, “The citizen academy is not designed to turn a person into a law enforcement officer.
However, it will educate them on the day to day responsibilities and operations of a law enforcement agency.
The academy will give them an appreciation of what officers do and the decisions they must make.”
The deadline to submit an application for the 2014 Citizen Academy is Sept. 12.
For more information on the Sheriff’s Citizen Academy, please visit the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office website www.gcsheriff.org and select the Citizen Academy link. An application form is available in Adobe format for you to print and mail or hand deliver to the sheriff’s office.
Applications will also be available in the front lobby of the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.
