To the Editor:
Why am I Chair of the Georgetown County Democratic Party?
First a little background. Born in the city of Georgetown 70 years ago and educated in our public schools. Spent one term in the US Air Force in Germany.
Returned to SC and while attending college in Columbia, I started working for the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED) during the mid 60s thru the late 70s.
This was a turbulent time in SC with school integration, civil rights, union strikes and unrest here and abroad.
Served as the elected Sheriff of Georgetown County from 1979-1993. Enough about me.
Southern Democrats were known as a conservative party and have evolved into a party that is inclusive of all; conservatives, moderates and liberals.
I believe everyone deserves a seat at the table. Without diversified involvement we will never reach solutions that work for our state and communities according the rights of our guiding Constitution.
As chairman of the Georgetown County Democratic Party, I invite all to join us and participate in democracy that represents our communities and help us make this even a better place to live.
