A member of the City of Georgetown’s Architectural Review Board was arrested by the South Carolina Highway Patrol after allegedly trying to bite a trooper during a traffic stop this past weekend.

According to Georgetown County Detention Center records, Kevin Dean Jayroe, 41, was booked into the jail at 12:50 a.m. Saturday charged with disorderly conduct as well as hindering police/resisting arrest.

The SCHP incident report states a trooper made a traffic stop on a vehicle at the corner of Duke and St. James Street at approximately 11:50 p.m. Friday. Jayroe was a passenger in the vehicle.

“The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and the passenger of the vehicle became argumentative,” the report states. “Kevin Jayroe exited the vehicle after being warned he would be arrested for disorderly conduct.”

The report continues: “I attempted to place Jayroe under arrest and he attempted to bite my had [sic]. He did resist arrest by pulling away and trying to shut the car door on me.”

Jayroe – who has served on the ARB since July, 2013 – was released from jail at 4:48 p.m. Saturday under a bond of $1,257.
