BisQit supports early childhood education initiative

  • Thursday, August 21, 2014

BisQit staff Erin Adams and George Monroe, and all the other staff, look forward to hosting guests in support of Miss Ruby’s Kids.

BisQit, the “bisQit, Burger, and Shake Place” will welcome guests on Thurs., Aug. 28 to benefit “Dining For a Cause” to promote Miss Ruby’s Kids.

Located at The Hammock Shops in the heart of Pawleys Island, owners Mike Benson and Josh Quigley opened bisQit in 2013.

The mid-1800s building was a post office for a nearby rice plantation before it was moved to its current location. Patrons can enjoy dining in a relaxed al fresco atmosphere on the porch or at an inside table.

The signature items at breakfast are the “extremely huge” cathead biscuits, that are served with the diner’s choice of butter, jam, apple butter, bacon jam, honey butter or pimento cheese. Breakfast wraps are also very popular as are breakfast tacos. BisQit sandwiches have various, delicious fillings including fried chicken, fried steak, country sausage, ham, bacon, eggs or cheese. Diners can also “Build Your Own bisQit.”

At lunch and dinner bisQit offers soups and a variety of salads. Appetizers, featuring finger foods such as a cheese and meat platter with pickled vegetables and a biscuit, are perfect for smaller appetites. The burgers are delicious and can be accompanied by freshly cut Belgian fries with dipping sauces.

It will be difficult to decide which of the several delectable burgers to order because each comes with great toppings. Or, you can “Build Your Own Burger” on your choice of bun and select from a wide variety of condiments. Sandwiches are served on your selection of breads, and pub-style foods are also offered. Full bar service is available. Diners should plan to enjoy their meal with one of the many fancy plain or spiked shakes.

BisQit is an ideal and fun place for families. Children are welcome.

BisQit is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday – Sunday. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 843-979-2747. It is located at 10880 Ocean Highway in the Hammock Shops.

BisQit joins a number of area restaurants in “Dining For a Cause” by offering a portion of their day’s proceeds to support the work of Miss Ruby’s Kids, an early childhood literacy program that was founded 11 years ago. The organization works with two and three-year-old children and their parents/care givers in the home and continues to support the children when they reach school age through the volunteer education mentor program.
