A new assisted living community, being constructed on US 17 Bypass in Murrells Inlet, is expected to open in early spring 2015.
Inlet Coastal Resort Assisted Living, which will include a U-shaped building with 35,000 square feet of covered space and a courtyard in the middle, according to Dennis Kjersgaard, a member of New Venture Capital, LLC, which owns the property.
It is located between Inlet Culinary Garden and Practice Management Group, LLC.
Sections of the building are being built separately and will be connected, he said.
The community is licensed for 62 residents, 42 of which will be in the assisted living section of the building.
An additional 20 residents will be in dementia care in the south wing, Kjersgaard said.
“It is going to be an upscale facility and all residents will have private rooms,” he stated.
“It will very informal living. We are trying to create an atmosphere like a freestyle cruise where you do everything at your leisure.”
He said some facilities have specific times when residents have to eat and do other activities, but this community will not have rigid times for activities.
“If a resident wants to have lunch at 1 or 2 p.m., that is OK,” Kjersgaard said.
He said the company hopes to build more of these communities in North Carolina and Georgia.
Kjersgaard said applications for jobs and residents will be available on the community’s website which should be up and running in September.
