Allens nab Inshore Fishing Association Redfish Tour event

The husband and wife team of Stan and Bobbie Allen won the Inshore Fishing Association Redfish Tour event in Georgetown on Aug. 16.

The Allens’ two fish weighed a total of nine pounds, beating by one-half pound the second-place anglers, Bruce Draper and Ricky Maldonado, and third-place anglers Glenn Finley and Dodd Wood.

Sixty boats participated in the event.

Rounding out the top 10 were: fourth, Henry McFadden and Chuck Fonvielle; fifth, Mike Pedersen and Jason Dail; sixth, J.R. Waits and Hyland Furniss; seventh, Walker Forrest and Justin DeGarmo; eighth, Vince Payne and Geoffrey Payne; ninth, Jonathan York and Alex Smith; and 10th, Steven Fennell and Bobby Marks.

Kayak tournament

Stephen Yurkevicius won the IFA Hobie Kayak Fishing Tour in Georgetown on Aug. 17.

Yurkevicius’ two fish weighed 49.25 pounds, easily distancing the second-place angler, Robby Freeman, who’s fish weighed 35.38 pounds.

Twenty-two anglers competed, but only seven brought fish to be weighed in.

Rounding out the field were: third, Justin Carter; fourth, Nathan Raycroft; fifth, Justin Rienerth; sixth, Larry Hancock; and seventh, Johnny Wigfall.
