Saint Frances’ Goude steps down

  • Wednesday, August 20, 2014

The executive director of Saint Frances Animal Center has resigned.

Wendy Goude submitted her resignation to the animal shelter’s board of directors Aug. 12, according to board President Brad Floyd. He said she worked at SFAC for about three years.

“Our understanding was that she wanted to pursue other ventures,” Floyd said. “She said that it was a personal decision for her and she had wanted to pursue other areas that may or may not be within the animal welfare industry.”

Floyd said SFAC will be sad to see Goude go.

“We, the board, are extremely grateful for the time, energy and passion that Wendy exhibited as an executive director.

“Saint Frances reached a number of new heights with regard to animal placement and with regard to reduction of euthanasia while she was the executive director.

“While we are sad to see her leave the organization, we wish her the very best with this next chapter. We are so thankful for all she’s done.”

Floyd said Goude did express a desire to stay involved with SFAC “as a community member.”

He called her resignation an “amicable situation, it was not confrontational at all.”

Moving forward, Floyd said the board wants to complete a needs assessment “to determine the most prudent course of action for the organization at this point.”

In the meantime, he said the board is relying on the management staff to continue operations as expected.

Goude could not be reached for comment.
