Aviation Week is Aug. 17-23

  • Friday, August 15, 2014

Barry Brock, fixed base operator with the Georgetown County Airport, stands in front of his plane at the Georgetown County Airport. Georgetown County Council passed a proclamation on Aug. 12, stating that the county will recognize Aviation Week, Aug. 17-23. The airport will host an event at noon on Aug. 22 featuring a presentation of the proclamation. At the state level, the South Carolina Aviation Association and the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission will showcase the impact aviation has on the state, its people and the economy. With more than 100 aerospace-related companies in South Carolina, aviation is a multi-billion-dollar industry and supports more than 70,000 jobs. Aviation and airports in the state contribute millions each year in tax benefits to state and local governments. Clayton Stairs/South Strand News
