Brookgreen Gardens is pleased to present the 81st annual Awards Exhibition of the National Sculpture Society. The juried show will open exclusively at Brookgreen Gardens on Aug. 16 and feature figurative works of 48 contemporary sculptors. The exhibit will be on view daily 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. until Nov. 2 and is free with garden admission.

The annual awards exhibition is the National Sculpture Society’s most popular show. Hundreds of artists apply to the juried competition that awards thousands of dollars in prizes. Highlights of this year’s exhibit include a springing Jack-in-the-Box; an aviary of exotic birds; portrait busts of celebrated heroes; and animal and human figures captured in unguarded moments.

Additionally, visitors to the exhibition vote for their favorites to win the Brookgreen People’s Choice Award, announced at the end of the exhibition.

Brookgreen Gardens, a National Historic Landmark and non-profit organization, is located on U.S. 17 between Murrells Inlet and Pawleys Island, South Carolina, and is open to the public daily. For more information, visit the web site at www.brookgreen.org or call 843-235-6000.
