Old Charleston Road Fire

A.M. Sheehan/South Strand News Georgetown firefighters were busy Sunday, Aug. 10. A fierce lightening storm caused flooding throughout the city. Lightning struck Lands End Restaurant around 3:30 p.m. damaging an external light fixture and the AC system, according to Fire Chief Joe Tanner. Forty-five minutes later, firefighters responded to a structure fire in Maryville on Old Charleston Road. When they arrived, there was smoke pouring from the attic. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control. They remained at the scene to check for hot spots. The cause of the fire is undetermined. No one was injured.
