“Cougars at the Beach,” the second in a series of Mickke D, Grand Strand murder mystery whodunit novels by celebrated author Steve McMillen, has just been released by CreateSpace Publishing, of Charleston. Steve’s first novel “Murder on the Front Nine” was highly acclaimed and this second book picks right up where the first one left off.
The novel is set in Myrtle Beach and McMillen includes quite a bit of local history as well as action scenes taking place at local attractions and local features. The reader will take a walk on the new Boardwalk, see the Sky Wheel, visit a local wine festival, go for a boat chase on the waterway and even search for buried pirate treasure.
If you’ve ever been to Myrtle Beach, you’ll be able to say, “Been there, done that.”
There are no lulls in this adventure, it is constant action from the beginning to the end. Mickke D is back as an ex-Green Beret who lives in Little River. He is a real estate broker and part-time private investigator, among other things.
A real estate friend talks him into taking on a missing persons case. How much of a problem can a missing persons case be for an ex-investigator with Army JAG? He soon discovers he is hunting for a serial killer who is stalking middle-aged and mature women known as cougars.
It doesn’t take Mickke D long to figure out the serial killer is hunting him as well, on top of a drug cartel kingpin from Colombia resurfacing from his past.
There will be a book signing at My Sister’s Books on Aug. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
