Police Blotter: Man shoots himself while unloading gun

An 83-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the leg while at his home on Tradition Club Drive on July 28.

The report says the man shot himself in the leg while unloading a gun.

The man was being treated by EMS when the deputy arrived. The man injured both his leg and a finger.

He told the deputy he was unloading his gun so he could clean it when it discharged.

He was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center for treatment.

Windshield attacked

A woman from Heron Way in Pawleys Island said her vehicle was vandalized by her 25-year-old daughter July 22.

She said her daughter wanted something out of her car (what the woman wanted from the vehicle is redacted from the report).

When she told her daughter ďnoĒ her daughter reportedly grabbed a hammer and damaged the windshield.

The woman told the deputy her daughter needs drug treatment and the officer advised her how she could get her daughter the help.

She said she did not want to press charges because her daughter had just bonded out of jail.

Repossession angst

A man from Minnow Drive filed a report after an employee of a furniture and appliance rental company repossessed a washer and dryer that was in his storage shed under his carport.

The man admitted he was behind on the payments but said he does not feel it was right for the store employee to remove the items from his property.

The man said he discovered the appliances were missing when he retuned home.

The manager of the store said he took the washer and dryer because of the delinquent payments.

The manager said he would return the manís towels that were in the washer when the repossession took place.

He was advised by the deputy it would be a good idea to have a police escort when he returns the towels.

Wife attacks husband

A man from Springfield Road called 911 July 27 after his wife punched him in the face.

He said she got mad when she saw he was texting some people with whom he went to school.

He said he tried talking to her and she stomped on his foot and hit him again.

The man said he wanted to leave the home but his wife would not give him the keys.

The woman said when she read the texts she found out he was cheating on her so, she admitted, she struck him on the face.

She was arrested for simple assault.

Windshield damaged

A man from Chesnee said he was driving on U.S. Highway 17 near DeBordieu around 10:30 a.m. July 27 when he heard something hit his windshield.

He said at about the same time he saw a couple outside their car on the side the road looking at their windshield.

Itís unknown if the car was hit by a bullet, BB or rock, the report states.

Stolen golf cart

A golf cart was reported stolen from a home on Lakeshore Drive in Pawleys Island on July 24.

The owner was visiting her friend at the Lakshore Drive home and when she was leaving she discovered her golf cart was gone.

She said she was inside the friendís house for less than three hours and had the keys in her possession.

There are no suspects.
