Robert Dean Tanner, 70, husband of Vicki Marsh Tanner passed away on July 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 17, 1944 in Hemingway to the late Robbie Wilson and Virlee Owens Tanner.
Dean grew up in Hemingway. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School. After high school he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam. He was a retired master carpenter. He attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Dean is survived by his spouse Vicki of Hemingway; his son Robert Dale (Glenda) Tanner; a stepdaughter Nichole Hardee; a stepson Jarrod Cockfield ; grandchildren Kara Elizabeth Tanner, Jamison Joye, and Katie Cockfield brothers T.P. (Faye) Tanner, John Weyman (Alice) Tanner; sisters Warnell T. Jones, Tammie (LaRice) Poston, Lennie Miller, Berta (Danny) Jones; mother in law Mildred Marsh, brothers in law W.C. (Thel) Marsh, Derrick (Linda) Marsh, Italy (Molly) Marsh, sister in law Levette (Jimmy) Lewis and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Dean was preceded in death by a sister Lucille Kirby, brothers in law Ronald Jones, Junior Kirby, father in law Clinton Marsh and sister in law Helen Marsh Prox.
A funeral service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 2, 2014. Burial will follow the funeral at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be greeting friends and relatives at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center 11914 Pleasant Hill Drive Hemingway on Fri., Aug. 1, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m..
