Shag Club: The South Strand Shag Club will meet at 8 p.m. at VFW Post 10420 in Murrells Inlet. Come listen to some great shag tunes and dance the night away with one of our favorite DJs. Members, guests and visitors are always welcome. Check out the website at www.southstrandsc.com.

St. andrews ame: St. Andrews AME Church, 102 North Beech Ave., Andrews, will be having a celebration of Rev. Virgil Hammett’s 10th pastoral anniversary. On Sat., Aug. 2 the church will have a fun day from noon until 4 p.m. The celebration will continue on Sun., Aug. 3 with a worship service at 4 p.m. at Rosemary Middle School in Andrews.

farmers Market: The Georgetown farmers market at East Bay Park is every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pawleys Island farmers market at the Waccamaw Regional Recreation Center is every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ANDREWS AA: Sobering Hope Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. at Universal Hagar’s Church in Andrews, 313 N. Beech Ave. Call 543-4248 or 646-241-0866.

Bible Study: There will be a new youth (ages 6-18) Bible Study at St. John AME Church on Duncan Rd. from 10 to 11 a.m. Every Saturday morning. Reverend Sammy Green is the instructor.

Bethel AME Church: Bethel AME Church, 417 Broad St., Georgetown, early morning service is at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and church school is at 9 a.m. Our regular service begins at 10 a.m.

OB TOUR: Walking tour of Labor and Delivery, Postpartum Unit and at Georgetown Memorial Hospital at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required by calling 520-8490 or by self registration via the hospital’s website.

Revival: Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 225 Wood St., Georgetown, will be having a revival Aug. 4 to 7 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Dr. Eddie Gamble Jr., pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Dunbar and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church of Andrews.

Tuesday, August 5

ribbon cutting: Frontier Communications will have a ribbon cutting and grand opening beginning at 11 a.m. at 113 Front St., Georgetown.

round table: U.S. Representative Tom Rice (7th District) will meet with constituents from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Georgetown County Library. After a briefing, Rice will answer questions from the audience.

chat & chew: All voters – Democrats, Republicans, and Independents are invited to a chat & chew with Carl Anderson at 6 p.m. at Brown’s Ferry Elementary School.

national night out: The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring a National Night Out event from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Elementary Football Field. There will be fun, food, music and games for the entire family.

Gamecock club: The Georgetown County Gamecock Club kick-off meeting will be held at the VFW, 711 Church St., Georgetown. The social will begin at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Andy Demetr, the Voice of the Gamecocks.

library: Wee Wiggler Story Time, 10 a.m., Georgetown Library, stories, music, fingerplays, yoga, ages birth to five. For information call 843-545-3311.

exercise program: Arnett AME Church, 900 N. Merriman Rd. has an exercise program that meets every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 8 a.m. Church School is Sundays at 9 a.m. and Worship 10 a.m., Bible Study is Tuesdays 6 p.m. and Mid-week worship is Wednesdays 7 p.m.

Macedonia FBH: Weekly Bible study 6:30 p.m. 2313 Prince. St., Georgetown.

BIBLE STUDY: Pine Crest Baptist Church in Andrews is every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Refreshments will follow the meeting. The church is located at 3689 County Line Road, Andrews.

GBA meetings: The GBA will meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at the Parker-Stewart House on Front St. from 8 to 9 a.m. All merchants are welcome to attend.

Bereavement support: A bereavement support group meets twice monthly on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 5 – 6:15 p.m. in the small conference room of Morningside of Georgetown, the assisted living facility at 2628 N. Fraser St. The group is facilitated by Harrison Grey, D.Min., Ph.D., Bereavement Coordinator for Tidelands Community Hospice of Georgetown (546-3410.)

Wednesday, August 6

singing christmas tree: The choir kick-off dinner for First Baptist Church’s 25th annual Christmas spectacular will be tonight at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Anyone high school age or older is invited to sing in this year’s tree, which will be Dec. 12-15. For information call 546-5187.

KGB: Keep Georgetown Beautiful will meet at noon at City Hall. The public is invited to attend. Call 545-4100.
