The South Strand Optimist Club was privileged to have Matt Hogue, Interim Director of Athletics at Coastal Carolina University, as its guest speaker on Thurs., July 17 at Applewood House of Pancakes.
Hogue spoke about the activities of the CCU Athletics Department and the University as well as the upcoming sports seasons.
The next speaker on Thur., Aug. 21 at 12:30 p.m. at Applewood House of Pancakes will be Elaine Paige, director of Jason’s House.
She will talk about the mission of Surfside United Methodist Church and community support to give free vacations to families burdened by care for a child with life-threatening cancer and what the community can do to help.
The public is welcome to attend.
The South Strand Optimist Club serves the town of Surfside Beach, the communities of Burgess, St. James, Garden City Beach, Murrells Inlet, the Waccamaw Neck, and the cty of Georgetown.
